What data should we look at after we blast an email?
1 Vote
  • Verify the blast is processed by your blasting service:
Many tools “queue up” your blast, and push messages out over several minutes or hours, depending on the size of the blast list. Track blasting status until it is marked as “complete”.
  • Check replies:
After a blast, immediately and always look for replies, and try to respond quickly. Replies may let you know of problems with your message or of confusion on the part of recipients.
  • Check bounce rates:
Once you've been sending to a list for a while, you should not experience too many “bounces” where messages are rejected at the receiving end. If bounce rates are high, investigate what's causing them.
  • Check open and click-through rates:
Within 4-24 hours, you can assess how many folks are opening your message and clicking on your asks.
  • Check unsubscribe rate:
Verify after 1-3 days that it's not abnormally high.
  • Assess effectiveness of the blast:
After 2-4 days, debrief with all stakeholders on how to improve future blasts on all levels from content to design to process. Adjust future process and scheduling based on results and learnings.
